Meet the Team

Creative Castles, Inc. is a family-owned and operated custom home builder specializing in luxury residences and high-end remodels throughout the Lake Conroe area. The company is led by three owners—Surrey Ewing, Susan Ewing, and Lance Ewing—each bringing a distinct strength that contributes to the success and longevity of the firm.

Surrey Ewing

Founder and co-owner, has been building exceptional custom homes in the Lake Conroe area since 1992. With roots in Houston’s Memorial area beginning in the 1980s, Surrey brings decades of hands-on construction experience and deep industry knowledge to every project. His background spans a wide range of architectural styles and construction methods, giving him a keen ability to anticipate challenges, maintain quality, and execute complex builds with precision. Surrey’s commitment to craftsmanship, integrity, and doing things the right way has been the foundation of Creative Castles from day one.

Susan Ewing

Co-owner and office manager, oversees the internal operations of the company. As Surrey’s wife and Lance’s mother, Susan provides a steady balance of leadership, accountability, and organization that keeps Creative Castles running seamlessly behind the scenes. She manages the administrative, financial, and communication aspects of the business, ensuring projects stay organized, clients stay informed, and the company operates with consistency and professionalism.

Lance Ewing

Co-owner, has overseen the renovation division of Creative Castles since 2010. With a strong eye for design and functionality, Lance brings a broad range of expertise in both style and execution, seamlessly blending traditional elegance with contemporary living. His hands-on involvement throughout the renovation process ensures that each project is thoughtfully planned, carefully managed, and completed to the highest standard.

Many adjectives describe Surrey Ewing. Honesty, integrity and dependability are just a few. He is an outstanding and loving son, husband, father, friend and is always there to help others. Surrey is a very prudent, astute and well organized business man who wants his clients to reap the most for their dollars. He wants a win-win relationship. As a builder, his artistic values and superb craftsmanship exceed most others in the profession. Surrey's fore-sightedness enables him to point out possible problems before construction, thus saving both time and money for the homeowner. Our home was built on schedule, which was provided by Surrey and a complete accounting was on-going from the start to finish. We have never had so much fun and such a delightful experience building a home. It is a masterpiece. Many have said building a home was traumatic and very difficult. If we would build again, we would give the plans to Surrey, ask how much we would owe him and when could he start. Asking for other bids would be a waste of time. Why look elsewhere when perfection is before you.

My husband and I have lived in nine homes from coast to coast, and we found the experience of building with "Creative Castles" to be superior. From the moment we began construction, Surrey Ewing was on top of things every step of the way. He worked hard to keep us in budget, without sacrificing quality. We marvel at our low utility bills, and beautiful views from every window. He was very particular to small details and it shows. We thought we were building a house with Surrey, but instead he created our castle!

We love our home built by Creative Castles. We had no experience in building custom homes, but Surrey Ewing (builder/owner) helped us through all stages of the process. He spent countless hours with us walking our acreage to help us decide on the best placement for our home and barn. He worked with us and our architect to design the floor plan and elevations to maximize the floor space and take advantage of the best views on our property. The building process was handled professionally and fairly. He used experienced contractors that had a long professional relationship with him. He encouraged our involvement in all stages and was more than fair in handling any changes. After construction, he has been very prompt in handling the minor final fixes/adjustments. We found him to be one of the most honest businessmen we have ever dealt with and highly recommend Creative Castles to others. It is very clear that he takes pride in his work and wants each home to be a true dream home for its owners.
